Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Season 2 Episode 1 — "The Transmogrification of Eunice"
The second season of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien kicks off with an intriguing mystery that expands the lore of the Omnitrix itself. The season begins with Episode 1, "The Transmogrification of Eunice," where a routine camping trip in the wilderness takes a dramatic turn after a strange spacecraft crash-lands near Ben, Gwen, and Kevin, introducing them to a mysterious new ally.
From the wreckage emerges a pod containing a young girl with absolutely no memory of her past, except for her name — Eunice. As Ben forms an immediate bond with her and tries to help her recover her identity, the group soon realizes they are being pursued by a deadly intergalactic bounty hunter named Sunder, who has been hired to capture her at all costs.
Episode Summary
While on a camping getaway in the forest, Ben and Kevin are busy racing cars and acting immature, much to Gwen's annoyance. The peaceful day is cut short when an alien vessel falls from the sky. Upon investigating, Gwen touches the ship's surface, triggering a defensive shock before the central pod opens to reveal a mysterious blonde girl surrounded by a green mist. Ben quickly gives her his jacket, and the team agrees to protect her after finding out she is completely amnesiac.
As they spend the day fishing and bonding, a romantic spark develops between Ben and Eunice, triggering a bit of jealousy and tension within the group. However, things take a bizarre turn when Eunice effortlessly moves a massive boulder and shows an uncanny ability to calm wild animals. Meanwhile, the ruthless bounty hunter Sunder tracks their tire marks back to the campsite, intending to retrieve what he considers missing property.
When Sunder ambushes them, Ben jumps into action, utilizing Spidermonkey and evolving into Ultimate Spidermonkey to counter the threat. During the climax of the battle, Sunder hits a hidden button on the back of Eunice's neck, reducing her back into a glowing Omnitrix core. Just as Ben fights fiercely as Ultimate Cannonbolt to save her, First Thinker Azmuth arrives to halt the battle, revealing a shocking truth about Eunice's true identity and origin.
Themes & Character Development
- Sentience vs. Objecthood: The episode deeply explores what defines life. While Azmuth views Eunice merely as a technological tool, Ben fiercely argues for her humanity and right to free will.
- Interpersonal Friction: Gwen's suspicion of Eunice reveals complex group dynamics, initially mistaking her protective instincts for simple jealousy over Ben's sudden romantic interest.
- Expanding Omnitrix Lore: The episode introduces the concept of standalone biological containers for alien DNA, showing that Azmuth experimented with multiple prototypes before settling on the watch design.

Fun Facts & Trivia
Did You Know?
- Eunice is actually the Unitrix, a prototype Omnitrix designed to store genetic information in individual automated bodies rather than a single wearable device.
- Eunice's physical appearance was randomly generated based on Gwen's DNA when Gwen first touched the pod, making her technically a biological relative of the Tennyson family tree.
- Her name, "Eunice," is a clever verbal corruption of the word "Unitrix," which she misremembered due to her initial amnesia. Her early working name during script production was Yuna.
- Unlike the Omnitrix or Ultimatrix, Eunice can absorb the abilities of nearby organisms through physical touch and can output their traits for about ten minutes without altering her outer human form.
- At the end of the episode, Azmuth hires Eunice to help him manage the Core Stream on Primus, acknowledging her autonomy under Ben's compromise.
Legacy & Impact
"The Transmogrification of Eunice" remains a standout episode of the Ultimate Alien series, loved for shifting the focus from simple world-ending crises to philosophical questions about personhood. It forced Ben to reevaluate his relationship with his own transformations, emphasizing that the creatures he turns into are living extensions of a massive galactic tapestry rather than simple weapon configurations.
The introduction of the Unitrix added a fresh layer of science-fiction wonder to the franchise, proving that even after several seasons, the universe of Ben 10 still had incredible secrets waiting to be uncovered in the deep wilderness.
