The dark sorcerer Hex, feeling weak and elderly due to his failing magic, tracks down the legendary Fountain of Youth, which happens to be hidden beneath a Florida fairground. The Tennysons stumble onto his plot, but during a chaotic scramble, Grandpa Max falls directly into a vat of the enchanted water, with Ben getting splashed by the runoff. Instead of killing them, the water physically reverts Max into a ten-year-old boy and turns Ben into a whiny four-year-old toddler.
